I’m Joanna Miller, the creator behind Churna.

I’m Joanna Miller, the creator behind Churna. On my personal Ayurvedic journey, I learned that while the foundations of beauty start from within, there are many therapies aimed at enhancing one’s external appearance. Hair and tooth powder were introduced to me by an Ayurvedic doctor, and immediately I was hooked. For years I struggled with products that irritated my skin, so it was immensely satisfying to use products that felt right for my body for the first time. The only problem was that they were not commercially available on the market, so I began the process of sourcing and blending herbs on my own.

After sharing these products with family and friends for years, the growing demand became clear, and now we are proudly able to share these products with you. We hope that you benefit from these first six products. Plans for a hair mask and additional products are in the works and will be offered soon. They will all follow our mandate to offer 100% natural products that honour traditional Ayurvedic principles.

Our Ingredients

Amla
(Emblica Officinalis)

Revitalize your lustrous and beautiful hair with Amla, the divine gift and berry of nature. In Ayurvedic traditions, Amla (or Indian gooseberry) is a ‘divya aushadhi,’ which means it is a naturally occurring ingredient that will restore your hair’s vigor and vitality.

A true wonder, the Amla berry works to balance the Vata, Pitta, and Kapha doshas in the body. The healing properties of Amla help fight scalp inflammation, minimize premature grays, thicken hair, and improve its overall shine.

High in antioxidants and vitamin C, this nutrient-rich berry encourages new hair growth and enhances the warm tones of your natural or dyed hair colour. The ingredient can be found in both our Fresh Amla Hair Oil and Churna Shampoo.

Neem leaves, fruit, and bark are used in our shampoo and tooth powder formulations.

Neem leaves act as wonderful nourishment for the hair and promote stronger and thicker tresses. The antifungal, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties of Neem further eliminate dandruff.

Neem fruit has a variety of health benefits due to its smooth texture, lightness, and ability to penetrate the gut. It is commonly recommended to alleviate bloating and hemorrhoids. Due to being unctuous and oily, Neem fruit helps soften and condition hair.

Neem bark contains antiseptic and astringent properties that heal wounds and clean teeth. Traditionally used as a natural toothbrush, Neem bark is an effective ingredient in the prevention of gum and periodontal disease.
